Topic	Why is there a 22LR caliber AR15 style rifle?

I'm not sure which one to go for and why... get the 556 one and and a .22 conversion kit or a dedicated upper receiver and switch them out as you please. I looked into that but found a S&W M&P15 22LR for like $300, where conversion kits are around $200...
