Charles Foster Kane (Citizen Kane) Rating: 64 out of 100 As a film, Citizen Kane is fantastic, but as a character, I think the William Randolph Heart-a-like relies more on a strong acting performance than a particularly interesting character. It doesn't resonate with me as much simply because I've never been enamored with the man behind the movie (Hearst). I also think the character is very tidily tied up at the end of the film; there's really no room for further exploration. Kane also has a sense of finality that makes me uninterested in returning to the film for future viewings as well. It's an intense experience of an entire lifetime wrapped up in a unique and interesting character, but not necessarily one I find particularly endearing. --- "It is too easy being monsters.
