My best friend's girlfriend just died a few days ago. It fucking sucks.

He's a quiet introvert type and has always struggled with getting a girlfriend. He's had a few but they always ended up batshit crazy or whatever.

This one was awesome. My wife and I became really good friends with her. My wife and her talked almost every day. We went out with them a bunch and played video games.

It was getting serious and I had started the framework of my best man speech.

We hung out around Halloween and got drunk and played Mario Party and Ultimate Chicken Horse and it was awesome.

Then two days later she had the flu. Then two days later she had severe pneumonia and was taken to the hospital. They did some sort of surgery on her and sedated for a week or so. She recovered after a couple of weeks and was released. Two days after that, she was back in the hospital, having surgery again, sedated again. She remained sedated until last week. The doctor said she would probably have brain damage if she recovered. Then they said she had no hope and was taken off of life support. A 32 year old girl died of fucking pneumonia.

My friend seems to be doing okay but I think he's disconnected pretty hard. I'm doing the best I can to keep him going and in a good frame of mind but its fucking rough.
