You get a call out of the blue from the doctors saying that your girlfriend is dying

You rush to the hospital and they point you to the room saying "you better hurry because she is dying. "

You go into the dark room where your girlfriend is lying in a bed barely moving, then when you get close she instantly bursts up with supreme energy and hugs you tightly then says "Dying to see you that is!"

Suddenly the lights turn on and the room is full of doctors and nurses pointing and laughing at you



How do you react?
What do you do?

I would be very angry at my hand for pulling a joke like that.

They wouldn't like my reaction. I'd just accept that it's a joke and react very little with a good attitude. But anyone in that room who knows me, would know that my affection levels for everyone involved dropped massively.

In the moment I'd be livid-relieved.
After the fact I might find it kinda funny but pretty damn unprofessional.

I would call TC and tell him his mom is gonna be ok.

I'd probably ugly cry and not stop kissing her all over for days.

Later on I'd probably be quiet as I worked it out in my head. Why would she do that to me? At the same time, it would be very sweet if she just wanted to see me that bad.

My best friend's girlfriend just died a few days ago. It fucking sucks.

He's a quiet introvert type and has always struggled with getting a girlfriend. He's had a few but they always ended up batshit crazy or whatever.

This one was awesome. My wife and I became really good friends with her. My wife and her talked almost every day. We went out with them a bunch and played video games.

It was getting serious and I had started the framework of my best man speech.

We hung out around Halloween and got drunk and played Mario Party and Ultimate Chicken Horse and it was awesome.

Then two days later she had the flu. Then two days later she had severe pneumonia and was taken to the hospital. They did some sort of surgery on her and sedated for a week or so. She recovered after a couple of weeks and was released. Two days after that, she was back in the hospital, having surgery again, sedated again. She remained sedated until last week. The doctor said she would probably have brain damage if she recovered. Then they said she had no hope and was taken off of life support. A 32 year old girl died of fucking pneumonia.

My friend seems to be doing okay but I think he's disconnected pretty hard. I'm doing the best I can to keep him going and in a good frame of mind but its fucking rough.
