It's hard to say, but no I don't feel his names comes up a lot nowadays. Or as much as it should.
He was amazing. Truly at one with the guitar. His rendition of the US national anthem may be my favourite. He actually captures the violence of the song.

Having said that, he might have an Acid Rock thing going on that goes over some peoples heads nowadays.
But, no, certainly not, he will not be forgotten.

If anything, someone will do a bio-pic on him, then everyone will watch say he was amazing, and they always loved him. ~That's how things seem to work in this day.
