It's probably not an exageration to say most modern western music was built on his shoulders whether intentional or not.

He was highly prasied in his time for being decades ahead of the curve and was pretty much worshipped by high scale music fans/supporters/historians.

But the keyword there is "was"

No one born since 1989 seems to mention his name and the people who do talk about him are dying 40,000 by the day with no reinforcements.

Do you think he is doomed to become a footnote in entertainment history? Or do you think the kids of today/tomorrow treat him appropriately?

I like Hendrix and all, but jfc get off his D lol. Also, kids these days are more into virtue signaling and outrage culture than Hendrix.

It's hard to say, but no I don't feel his names comes up a lot nowadays. Or as much as it should.
He was amazing. Truly at one with the guitar. His rendition of the US national anthem may be my favourite. He actually captures the violence of the song.

Having said that, he might have an Acid Rock thing going on that goes over some peoples heads nowadays.
But, no, certainly not, he will not be forgotten.

If anything, someone will do a bio-pic on him, then everyone will watch say he was amazing, and they always loved him. ~That's how things seem to work in this day.

Sadly, rock is ending up like Jazz now. It has it's fan base, but not as popular as it once was. I think if rock music was still as big as it was we'd be hearing about him a bit more, but sadly the record companies killed rock n roll by saturating the airwaves in mediocre to outright horrible rock bands.

I'd say that's a massive exaggeration. He's amongst the most technically skilled guitarists of all time and he innovated lots of guitar tricks like controlling feedback and stereo phasing, but in terms of actual writing music he was just playing variations on existing blues rock for the most part.

Hendrix was the reason why I started playing guitar. Top 10 most influential musician of all time imo.

I never liked his music. He was talented but it always felt like people massively overrated him because he died young. How exactly has he been massively influential?

Hendrix was really talented and had some really fresh ideas at the time like running the microphone through the distortion pedal but there's been lots of other great talent since. No reason to marginalize other people's accomplishments by making them live in Hendrix's shadow when they're just as talented.

Try listening to his live stuff. In the studio he was kind of constrained by the producers. Live is where he shined. Try Band of Gypsys
(his band after the jimi hendrix experience) live at the Fillmore East. Easily one of the best live albums i've ever heard.

He's massively impressive. Playing with the guitar behind his head? Amazing.

I just wish he played clean instead of muddy.
