The issue is less that Trump wants more money spent on the festivities (though that *is* an issue) and more that he's taking great pains to make it about him and the Republicans and turn the whole thing into a campaign rally. Presidents in particular usually spend July 4th away from the capital in order to avoid any appearance of partisanship at the celebrations. Trump has decided to give a speech at the Lincoln memorial, co-opt military equipment like it's a Soviet military parade, and has given Republican donors and RNC officials their own ticketed VIP section. Seriously, none of the board's conservatives see the issue with this? Really? Mead posted...
