the twitter link in the OP way overcomplicates things. imo the equation is:

subversive shit + social isolation = radicalization

teenage boys look for subversive/edgy shit online because that is what is appealing to teenage boys. racist/sexist/anti-gay/etc shit is appealing because it's offensive & they know it, maybe it's funny, maybe it touches on a generalization that has a sliver of truth to it, etc.

then they have nobody in their real life to keep them in check, nobody to challenge this shit, nobody who will kick their ass, etc. online socialization isnt real socialization & doesnt count, usually it just makes this shit worse.

the obvious solution isnt to do what the chick in the OP says and try and compete with /pol/ holocaust denial memes by showing the kids progressive female comedians & trying to have them debate white supremacy. the actual solution is to actually just parent your kids, smack them in the head when you find out they are watching some inbred mouthbreather in a truck talk about white genocide on youtube, take away their computer & xbox for 6 months, force them to go outside and try out for sports and actually socialize with real people so they can become a well adjusted adults etc.

honestly i feel like the world has gone kind of crazy, this whole twitter thread reeks of self-importance
