Tungsten A pretty weird metal. It's in that heavy transition region with metals like osmium and iridium, so it's heavy as well as pretty underappreciated. I don't think most people know its alternative name Wolfram, but without that cool name I'm not sure why it has the popular presence that it does. I don't think it's overhyped like titanium is, just more well known. Its notable physical and chemical features are too dry to be very interesting, save for its insane melting point. It doesn't melt until like 3000C/6000F which is incredible. It also poses the unique issue that we can't really play around with its liquid form much. It faces the same issue as the universal solvent: what do you hold it in?
