Lots of people make enough for their monthly bills and don't have any left to save. Hence living paycheck to paycheck. That being said, I don't think I know anybody IRL with $10,000 (or 7,543) in their accounts... It might also be because a ton of US citizens have some kind of debt. Whether it be from student loans, medical expenses, credit cards, etc. That's true. Especially those students loans. Nobody can save with all those debts... Xfma100 posted... But I also wonder how many people have more money put into investments or retirement plans than their actual bank accounts. That's true, too.
