Wow, you're poor if $800+ is the most you could have at any given moment. The fact that you're bragging about it here must means that you're an unemployed teenager.

If not for bragging then why did you make this topic? Anyway, I would expect someone about to turn 30 working full-time to have much more money than what your poll indicates. Considering the standard is 40 hours a week, the minimum wage in the US is $7.25, and workers usually get paid once every two weeks, you should have at the very least $580 plus whatever you had saved. I doubt someone about to turn 30 only works at minimum wage, so you should have much more than $580. Most financial experts say that you should always save enough money to survive for at least six months (by survive, they mean saving six times what you actually pay each month), which obviously isn't what you're doing. Heck, this doesn't even take retirement savings into account.

Why do so many US citizens live paycheck to paycheck? I just did some research and it appears that 58% of Americans have less than $1000 in their bank account, which is actually insane! And here I thought that 24% of Canadians doing the same was really bad. We also only have 44% who have more than $10,000 (~$7543 in USD) saved in the bank. I imagine the percentage of Americans doing the same must be abysmal. How are the current generations going to survive after retirement? How are they going to survive during emergencies? It's no wonder we have such a homeless crisis going on. People lose their job for a reason out of their control and they're left with nothing to pay the bills until they find a new job.

$800+ does include $1 billion, so he could very well have millions on him with this option.

Also, he's canadian, so he most likely only has what he'll need while visiting here. I assume that's what he's doing and why he has US money in the first place. While it would normally make sense that a non-regular wouldn't know, I believe one poll option (the first one) did point to this, so he wouldn't need 6 months of US money for a visit...

As for the living paycheck to paycheck, it's because some people just don't get paid enough. It's just that simple. Lots of people make enough for their monthly bills and don't have any left to save. Hence living paycheck to paycheck. That being said, I don't think I know anybody IRL with $10,000 (or 7,543) in their accounts...

It might also be because a ton of US citizens have some kind of debt. Whether it be from student loans, medical expenses, credit cards, etc.

But I also wonder how many people have more money put into investments or retirement plans than their actual bank accounts.

Because if you do, you probably should be putting it somewhere more useful to at least earn some (or reduce the amount of) interest.

FYI anyone who earns that much per month (of which I can guess there's a few on here given the other topics on jobs and whatnot) would be receiving that amount at least once a month so...

That's true. Especially those students loans. Nobody can save with all those debts...

That's true, too. Maybe some put all their extra money into those instead of their bank accounts...
