If they're the only ones with a "next gen" console, they'll be able to dominate the market b/c most people are stupid and will buy something just because its newer and more powerful. If Sony could just coast by another 5 years on their existing PS4 install base, releasing a few games each year alongside the third parties, they totally would. But MS is pushing forward, so they don't want to be "left behind." (I'd actually be really interested what would happen if Sony didn't put out PS5 and tried to leverage "you already own a PS4, why buy Scarlet?" for a few years, then unleashed an actual next gen console that wiped the floor w/ Scarlet. Maybe it'd work out well?) DirtBasedSoap posted... Google Stadia is gonna flop HARD I hope so! It represents pretty much everything I fear is gaming's future. Last time I had such fear was the original Xbox announcement, that it marked the beginning of the end of the things I chose console gaming for b/c MS would try and gradually merge the features and drawbacks of console and PC gaming until there was no appreciable difference.
