Topic | House votes to acknowledge Armenian Genocide. Guess who didn't vote yes |
mustachedmystic 11/02/19 6:23:37 PM #26: | Omar argued that the resolution was a political statement designed to condemn Turkey, which denies the genocide, rather than a genuine defense of universal human rights. I'd argue that if you believe that it was a genocide, you should vote to acknowledge it, no matter what you think the original motive for the resolution is. "Accountability and recognition of genocide should not be used as a cudgel in a political fight," Omar said in a statement, adding that the resolution should've recognized other human-rights violations. Sounds like a cop out to me. He should vote for the resolution, then introduce his own that deals with these other violations. --- Guns; freedom you can hold in your hand.
