The most southerly point in Great Britain is further north than any point in the Lower 48 US states.

Britain is surprisingly far north. London's on the same latitude as Labrador City (slightly lower), which is really quite far north in Canada. Not as far north as any of the territories' capitals, and still below the Arctic Circle, but further north than most of Canada's population density. Just goes to show what the Gulf Stream does for Britain that it's not a borderline arctic country.
