Well, the square pizza will always be defended by someone in the St. Louis area like me, and tbf, I am pretty harsh towards local pizza as a whole. Mainly because they are usually more expensive, and hyped up a lot more than the chain stuff. I'm a creature of habit so I'll mainly get pizza from the chain stuff, so when I go out of my way to get local stuff, I really have high hopes. In the end, I think part of what I taste is the disappointment I feel, which probably negatively affects my whole thought of the pizza. I usually feel the same. Local places get hyped up so much. I think its just because many people grew up with them. So, its what they know and like. And they will say its worth the extra cost. Most of the time, IMO, its not. And its not that the pizza is bad.
