Most men aren't looking at that out of the gate opposed to women. As a generalization men especially young men are looking for sex with an attractive woman and little else. As a generalization women are looking for a partner. Things like "Are you funny?" "What are your prospects?" don't matter to women socially the same way they do for men so there's less pressure pushing them into certain fields.
