Are people still running with this lie? Do people really think this, or are they just straight up making this up?

"Why aren't there as many women in stand up?"

Because women don't need a sense of humor to get laid.

For a guy being funny can make up for being poor or ugly or having no prospects.

To use a card metaphor a male 3 of Clubs can become a 6 or an 8 of Clubs if he is fucking funny.

For a girl a 3 of clubs is still a 3 of clubs and a 6 of clubs is silll a 6 of clubs even if she is funny.

No one ever shared an image of a hot chick and went "Yeah but could she make me laugh tho?"

I'm generalizing obviously but there is just no demand socially for young girls to try to make other people laugh. So much less women grow up trying to do it or feel the same social pressure to excell at it.

You really got this butthurt over a Twitter joke lol

Literally stolen from people who have made the same joke tons of times. I like a lot of comics who make CK jokes, but these people are saying this to spread this lie about what happened when it is complete bs.

Humor is useful for everyone, but it is true that men and women search for different things in partners...especially when it come to initial attraction. I mean this is a pretty obvious belief. Alot of female comics also seem to use stand up as a way to make it in acting far more often.

I'm explaining the biggest reason why the comedy scene both stand up and scripted is largely male.

I would say as far as relationships go humor does matter for women as well, but initial attraction it means much more for men. Most men aren't looking at that out of the gate opposed to women.

As a generalization men especially young men are looking for sex with an attractive woman and little else.

As a generalization women are looking for a partner.

Things like "Are you funny?" "What are your prospects?" don't matter to women socially the same way they do for men so there's less pressure pushing them into certain fields.

Do you think Tina Fey had the same incentives growing up that Lavell Crawford did to be funny?

That's an oversimplification.

But it's a factor on a societial level. A lot of it isn't even concious. It's hardly limited to comedy either.

No, you're wrong. You're regurgitating redpill pseudo-science that developed from a need to rationalize and reinforce their worldview. There's zero scientific basis for it.

That was just a string of buzzwords with no actual point.

If you think desire for sex has no impact on society then I don't know what to tell you. But that's the silliest "worldview" (whatever that means) of them all.

Most comedians more talk about how they're addicted to making large groups of people laugh going all the way back to childhood. Often they're from working class families and they turned to comedy from a very young age.

Anecdotally a lot of them come from really fucked up homes/living situations and the turn to comedy was a coping mechanism.

But I wonder sometimes if that's actually representative or if the ones who that happened too just have facinating life stories that you remember.
