Topic	Made fake apple pie, here's my criticism

I'd recommend finding a good quality pie crust that you can use. None of the ones at my grocery store are any good, all...three brands just suck. Including the pillsbury pie crust, store brand crust, and whatever the more expensive third brand is. It's pretty sweet and has the texture of mashed apple pie. You have some sourness which you get from the lemon juice and cream of tartar as well. Texture is gelatinous, you really don't taste any ritz crackers at all. For something that came out of the depression era, this recipe isn't too shabby really. I'd recommend making it just to experience it. Also I bought some "extra creamy" cool whip to go with it as suggested by the recipe, it tastes good at first, but it leaves you with a chalky after taste? Do not recommend extra creamy cool whip. Does not taste like dog food too, bonus points there. Guess I should mention that this could possibly trick some people into thinking it was apple pie. Especially people used to eating apple pie filling from those aforementioned desserts. TL;DR: Alright, give it a shot, not too hard to make. No fake crust or cool whip.
