Got some random crackers make a dessert, don't know what to do? Bust out the cream of tartar some random acid and sugar elements and you can make some apple pie despite not having apple pie. Like I said, I probably won't go making this into a pie, but the filling CAN be useful for making some apple flavored filling that could be used in a future dessert. Pseudomenon posted... A big part of "mock" foods is having a good enough approximation to trick the brain, not making an exact replica. You get the right blend of, for example, salty/fatty/sweet/smoky and you can impress upon the taster a presence of bacon.
