Because it's largely irrelevant to the issue at hand, which is controlling it. When the dust has settled, the exact origin can be traced and appropriate punitive/preventative action taken to avoid having it happen again, but for now, just focus on washing your hands and stop encouraging politicians to point fingers instead of acting on the real crisis. Yes, there's a very real possibility that a lab was studying this virus and it escaped due to lax protocols. But that's always going to be a risk so long as labs are studying viruses (fun fact: most countries have a few microbiology labs with some smallpox in the freezer) and certainly isn't cause to stop studying them altogether.
You obviously are ignorant on the subject of virology then because scientists say that the origin is important for learning about the virus and could expedite the process on treatment or a cure
