We base everything on light, and/or on object we have sent up and rely on the info they send back. If the earth is just 1 big experiment run by celestial beings, they could just be generating the information we receive. Or it could be a huge computer simulation and the info we are provided is created by a computer. Or our perceptions are faulty and the information we have deduced is wrong because of that. Or many other explanations. The earth being flat though is not very likely even in most of those situations, just because we can easily see the curvature etc. But mars existing?
