Whoops, I was actually on Ch 6 when I made that post. The Sephiroth guy fight that was difficult was Ch 6 so the short difficulty spike happens sooner than you think. I'm finally on Ch 7 though, but my party isn't strong enough to get all the missions done. Sigurd is Ch 8 btw and Kagura is Ch 7. From Infinite War, I've discovered Kagura is a pretty decent healer if you use her 2nd weapon. Your best dps, Angela, and 2 healers is not a bad comp. I don't think I was ever in danger of running out of turns, so survivability probably beats all the stages. Kagura is required for the 3rd tier of the exp dungeon as well. I'm gonna be running the exp dungeon all day tmrw probably

I'd also recommend doing all the arena fights right now. They're all against lvl 1 cpu comps and will give you free honor points. If you look at the store, it actually doesn't take that much to buy a 5* weapon for a unit you like. I think it refreshes once per week, but it's a pretty good option to power up the team. Doesn't feel like you can just power up as long as you play a lot more than biding your time and building up comps.
