You're looking at it skewed. Should people have been able to anticipate long lines or needing to request ballots or having to find transportation to vote? Sure. Should they be expected to? Hell no

Voting isn't a privilege, it's a right. You shouldn't have to jump through hoops, no matter how "reasonable", to do it. In practice, that means giving everybody eligible an opt- out mail in ballot, allowing everybody who shows on time to vote, and not reducing the number of polling places/area to below some acceptable threshold
