I avoid Early Access games as much as I possibly can.

I very much look at it on a case-by-case basis. Most EA games are unfinished trash and can be safely ignored, but there are plenty that release as worthwhile games that are just going to keep getting more content. Factorio was one example of that, where it was already a very solid game by the time it was released on Steam in 2016 (they'd released it through their website first), and it's continued to receive content updates ever since. They also maintained a very thorough weekly development blog that gave the whole process a delightful amount of transparency, rather than just a vague roadmap that they were hoping to be able to follow.

Basically, provided the game is either worth purchasing in its unfinished state or there's a solid track record of transparency and continuing to update at a reasonable pace (preferably both), I don't see a problem with EA. That often doesn't happen, but you can find some real gems if you're willing to take that chance.
