Serious question.
Before he fled from them (in which case, shooting him after that is not self defense)?
While he was fleeing (lolwhat, how even....)?
Or after they had caught him (with their guns drawn, apparently not ordering him to the ground before they approached, like any cop ever would fucking demand if they felt threatened enough to pull their guns on him)?

Only the last time frame is possibly valid self defense. Only the first scenario is logically plausible.

It sounds like you didn't read the article. I domt need to speculate because its laid out. It says he fled, they caught him and then a scuffle ensued and they shot him when they saw the handgun fall out. Maybe he was going for the gun. Maybe he wasn't. I'll wait until more info comes out
