Literally nothing about that is spiteful and everything is awesome. You're trying to assign some kind of hatred for Freddy in him doing that, and that just isn't the case.

Go watch The Quick and the Dead if you don't think Sam Raimi knows how to juggle a bunch of characters in one movie.
It's not the number of characters, it's the tone of Venom. Raimi was adapting the silver age comics, because that's what he grew up with and loved. Venom not only doesn't fit in with the silver age, but Venom is one of the things that officially killed it. He is the antithesis to that cheesy feel.
