I'm still mad at Sam Raimi for how he did Venom, but please, please, please bring back Kirsten Dundst as Mary Jane Watson. That's all I ask for.

I don't get why they are complicating the already set up plot with a multiverse element. can't this wait til Spider-Man 4? I really just want to see the fallout from Far From Home's ending.

Venom was very much not his fault. He didn't want it in, and the studio forced the issue, ruining his script, and Venom just doesn't fit in the style and clashed on it.

Also this.

I thought we were finally gonna be able to get a solid solo Spidey movie, with no MCU or Iron Man stuff. I wanted the multiverse stuff to be dealt with afterwards, in like a Sinister Six movie or something.

The source for Maguire is absolutely nothing but rumors, however persistent

But it fits with everything else we've heard. So really, wishful thinking, but I guess slightly educated wishful thinking lol

Far From Home was a very solid solo spidey movie. Homecoming was a very solid solo spidey movie, despite a cameo. There's nothing wrong with Spider-Man interacting with the rest of the MCU as long as we get enough pure spidey moments.

He knew what he was doing. He sabotaged the character to spite the studio.

And before you you try to argue that Sam Raimi couldn't be that petty, he literally had Freddy Krueger's glove stolen from the set of one of the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels so that he could use it in the Evil Dead sequel to imply the Deadites had killed Freddy.

I've no doubt a man who is capable of property theft for an act of spite would be fully capable of intentionally miscasting an actor out of spite. Go watch The Quick and the Dead if you don't think Sam Raimi knows how to juggle a bunch of characters in one movie.

Literally nothing about that is spiteful and everything is awesome. You're trying to assign some kind of hatred for Freddy in him doing that, and that just isn't the case.

It's not the number of characters, it's the tone of Venom. Raimi was adapting the silver age comics, because that's what he grew up with and loved. Venom not only doesn't fit in with the silver age, but Venom is one of the things that officially killed it. He is the antithesis to that cheesy feel.

Should've kept Hulk out of the Thor Ragnarok trailers too

But I get why they spoiled both

It was done as a dig against Wes Craven.

Sam Raimi took offense at a ripped Jaws poster in The Hills Have Eyes, thinking that Craven was throwing shade at Spielberg. So, he threw shade at Craven by killing off Freddy.

Yeah, Venom is actually pretty goofy if you look back to those older comics. He kinda gets the reputation of being this typical 90s edge lord because of his edgy design, but the Venom movie is actually closer than people think to how Venom actually is.

Venom is actually sorta perfect for Raimi's style and with the right direction could have been pretty awesome. Wish he was more familiar with the character.

My guess is the multiverse will "prove" that Peter isn't Spider-Man. If you see Peter somewhere in public with lots of witnesses but then see Tobey or Andrew swinging around New York somewhere else in the city then he can't be Spider-Man since he can't be in two places at once.

I like how the multiverse stuff is originating in a Dr. Strange movie and will seem to have lasting effects over the course of this phase. This some comic book ass comic book shit that I'm down for. Imo revealing Spiderman's identity this early was a weird move and I hope they stop with that shit by the end of this one.

I love goofy Venom (who I was first exposed to as a kid in one of the video games) and always hated edgelord Venom, though I have no idea which one is more accurate.

I was kind of surprised when I realized that most people expect Venom to be this serial killer cannibal thing, because that was so at odds with the way I'd constructed the character in my head as a kid.
