Smallpox was eradicated almost 200 years after the first vaccine was introduced. It took the help and cooperation of the entire world to get rid of smallpox. We can't even get everyone to wear a mask inside a Walmart lol Getting a vaccine (which is going to be free) is far less taxing on people than wearing masks everywhere. It took a while to get rid of it all but we didn't have the manufacturing and distributing technology back then than we do now. Also the smallpox vaccine was the first vaccine ever so people were justified in being suspicious.
