The loss of the lightsaber is similar. The construction of a new lightsaber literally occurs completely off screen. People remember the iconic lightsaber visual, but the direction and text of the film's don't actually emphasize the weapon all that much. Still don't know why they decided to cut the scene with Luke finishing his lightsaber in RotJ.
