(First Thoughts: Im not sure if this is the most repetitive song ever nominated, but I feel it has to be up there.)

This type of song isnt a bad guess for something Id be interested in, but Ive never seen The Road to El Dorado to have any context for these scenes. Its just a pair of (presumably) conmen repeating the same autotuned lyrics on an endless loop, which is not a recipe for a high score.

And now Im going to run in circles meowing until I hit my arbitrary word count.

Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meowsurprised no one ever tried nominating Meow Mixmeow, meow, meow...actually did someone try that at one of the Listening Topics without actual rankings because I seem to recall criticizing someone using a newer version of the song (Tender Centers, I do believe)?meow, meow, meow, meow; ...odd how am I simultaneously positive that both did & didnt happen, kupo.

...Maybe Im thinking of a song lyric topic where someone posted the (incorrect) Meow Mix theme? Or maybe Im just remembering searching for the lyrics and getting angry that Genius uses the Tender Centers version of the lyrics instead of the originalthey say the song was written in the 70s, but youre posting the modern version, you liars!

[Later Still: This has now been stuck in my head for months, which is making it feel more charming and familiar than it should... bouncing this up the list again, this time to the low 80s.]

[Final Thoughts: Ah, the fabled Meowing Writeup. Took long enough to get to it. So... this song. Its a thing, I guess? It eventually won me over with brute force, repeating itself so often that it burrowed into my mind and wont leave me alone. I like it now, apparently, though I dont feel like giving it 80 points tonight.]

(First Thoughts: Spiritual song done right.)

I think I need to be in the right headspace to appreciate a spiritual song and while I still like this, Im not nearly as into it as I was the first time around. There are some good lines here:

And I will never leave you
'Til we can say, "this world was just a Dream
We were sleepin' now we are awake"

What can I say, Im a sucker for anything about abandoning this reality.

Burnt to the core but not broken

is also fairly nice, in terms of inspirational lyrics about enduring pain/tragedy/whatever. I just dont actually want a highly spiritual song right now, so this just isnt quite working like it did when I was in more of a mood for it.

[Later: Im back to being more openminded and tolerant towards spiritual songs, so now I regret dropping this so low and have revised it up to the 80s. Its very...classic pop rock sounding, comforting in a nostalgic way.]

[Final Thoughts: A highly variable point song. There are times Id want to give it 80 or more points; there are times Id drop it down to the 60s or even less. Right now, its....kinda 70 point-ish? I like most of what its doing, but there are definitely songs on both albums that I prefer over this one.]

Hes not my favorite singer and the song itself doesnt do anything I particularly like or dislike, but the lyrics are definitely something I wanted.

Yay, darkness! ...Of course its nothing compared to Nekrogoblikons Darkness from last year, but Ill take it.
