You're being dishonest as fuck and have it backwards
It's not "Christians have progressed but there's still a few crazies around." it's "Christians are the same as ever but societies with less Christians in them are more progressive so some churches are having to submit in order to keep their numbers"
The amount of religious people is plummeting in the West over the past couple of generations.
Going "Well my Cousin is gay and had a Christian wedding!" is nice but it's not a sign of Christian progressiveness when every Christian organized body and the vast majority of Christian followers would call that evil and sinful.
Your example is the minority and as I said (that you ignored) only exists at all due to intense pressure from non religious entities. Take that pressure from real progressives away and no church would touch your cousin.
And your acceptance/denial of that is potentially harmful because it continues to slow down actual progression. When really the "Good" minority Christians and their apologists need to be the most vocal right now for actual change within the church.
If within the next few generations there is another surge in religious belief (which is not off the table) I'd want it to regain the progressive attitudes we've enjoyed due to the actions of non-religious people. When you pretend they don't exist and the progression came from the chuch (while they actively fight it) it means that if such a surge occurs, all the hate and bigotry we around the world in countries with powerful religious bodies will just come back.
How am I being dishonest as fuck? Christins are progressing. Maybe society is to blame for them progressing but they are. My cousin was one example and there are a quite a few churches I have been too, some in california and some in texas. Have you been to church lately? How would you even know what Christians think if you don't even really talk to them or go to church? Your being dishonest here not me.
