Both are must reads but I'd recommend The Stand first. There's a few moments in The Dark Tower that you'll appreciate more if you've read The Stand first.

Seconded.

I've read...a lot of King. Much of it was on audio while I worked a driving job for a couple years. My personal favorite is Pet Sematary, such a brutal and emotionally wrenching story, and Louis Creed is among King's best realized and most sympathetic characters imo.

Other top-tier books off the top of my head: Misery, IT, Green Mile, Cujo, The Shining, The Long Walk, Needful Things, Carrie

Popular but I didn't really like: Salem's Lot

Unpopular but I really like: Rose Madder
