Might take like 10 years but I can methodically go through ... No hurry

All the in-print ones. The school shooter book can be skipped, if it's expensive and unnecessary. Not sure if any others were taken off the shelf

What's your favorite, CE?

I've only read: The Talisman, The Long Walk, Black House, the Dark Tower series, and Rage (the school shooter one).

I liked them all, but The Dark Tower series holds a special place, for me.

anyway, I was lucky enough to find The Bachman Books Collection at a used book store some years back, so that's why I was able to read both Rage and The Long Walk (it also has Roadwork and The Running Man).

Shoot me a PM and keep me updated on your progress, I'm a huge fan of the series but the later books are somewhat divisive amongst fans.

Seconded.

I've read...a lot of King. Much of it was on audio while I worked a driving job for a couple years. My personal favorite is Pet Sematary, such a brutal and emotionally wrenching story, and Louis Creed is among King's best realized and most sympathetic characters imo.

Other top-tier books off the top of my head: Misery, IT, Green Mile, Cujo, The Shining, The Long Walk, Needful Things, Carrie

Popular but I didn't really like: Salem's Lot

Unpopular but I really like: Rose Madder

Fucking weird: The Sun Dog

IT, The Shining, and Pet Sematary are my faves. IT for the amazingly apt way he writes childhood thought processes, interactions, and world exploration, The Shining for the great story and having a goddamn haunted hotel as a villain, and Pet Sematary for how gut-punch fucking awful it is. Fully agree with:

Oh, another unpopular opinion of mine: I love SoS, but then again Susannah is another of my favorite King characters and she features heavily (obviously). Otoh Wizard and Glass pisses me off by suspending the main story for an entire book for an overlong and boring backstory. Wolves of the Callah also annoys me for spoilery reasons I won't get into, but it's at least not entirely boring.

I thought Song of Susannah was okay, and I hated Wizard and Glass. Personally, I'd probably rate the series as:

3>7>2>5>6>1>4.

Doubt many would agree though. I know a lot of people love the first one, but I think Roland is a much better character when he's interacting with the Ka-tet compared to him solo.

What was so weird about them?
It's just a particular brand of cheesy weirdness that King likes to use sometimes. Like the Langoliers adaptation gets a lot of shit for how goofy the Langoliers look, but there's no way they wouldn't look goofy as fuck. Or in the Library Policeman they defeat Ardelia with a ball of licorice. Or Needful Things defeating Leland Gaunt with amateur magic tricks and shadow puppets.

It's like...I get what you were going for and what those things are meant to represent, but they're goofy as fuck when you actually picture them.

Dark Tower is great, but I'd wait until you've read several of his other books that tie in to it. The Stand is great, as is It. Carrie, Salem's Lot, Shawshank Redemption (in one of his collections, I don't remember which one), The Green Mile... It's crazy how many books he's written.

I don't know what my favorite would be. From a Buick 8 is good, but I never see it mentioned very often. I got it from an aunt for my birthday one year and I'd never even heard of it. I liked it, though. The Eyes of the Dragon is good. Not your typical King novel.

The Shining is really good. Hell, I don't think I've read a bad book by him. Some are better than others, of course. Under the Dome was good, but started to get a little long in my opinion. Storm of the Century is a screenplay he wrote. I've never read it, but the show was good.

You're certainly in for a treat, though. I love Stephen King. I'm envious the first reading of some of his books. Enjoy!
