I think it also matters what the nature of the friendship is.
If they ever were previously involved, that matters a fucking lot.
If the friend has any feelings at all for your partner (or vice-versa, but holy hell is that a red flag), then it's also cause for concern, IMO. Seems like some women keep around "orbiters" (ie, simps...the "friendship" is blatantly unequal) basically on standby and if a relationship ever hits a snag, she can quickly jump ship to one of them. I feel having any sort of "back ups" like that is a deal-breaker for a relationship. I guess guys can pull that crap too, but it seems to mainly go in the direction of female in a couple + dudes as orbiters.

Otherwise I think opposite sex friends are fine to have.
