It is more explored than literally any other mythology except for maybe Norse or Judeo-Christian.

Though much of what we have of Norse is the Christianized bastard version of the mythology, down to the existence of Loki as a god, rather than--and I am over-simplifying a relative unknown here--the role given to a spritely, spiritual protector of children, of which there may have been several (hence the numerous faces leading to the idea of shapeshifting).
