What do you mean, one shot? One round, one chance per save? If you lose, do you continue through the story?

But just once per story mode, that's fairly common. Guilty Gear and BlazBlue might be the most notable, though it's not exactly as you describe. For example, in most Guilty Gear story modes, losing either specific matches, or any match at all, will net you the Bad Ending when you finish. You still have to redo the matches until you win, but the Good Ending is gone unless you quit and start over from the beginning.
No, it can still be like best of three like a normal fighting game. I meant one shot as in, win or lose, thats what happens in the story next. There is no try again, the only way to try again is to get back to that exact point by winning or losing in whatever way got you to that point in the first place.
