It's not like $15 a hour is a lot of money Freakonomics had a good show on this The main argument, or study really, that went against the minimum wage increase was that it didn't do much good. Iirc, Seattle did a 36~% minimum wage increase that had a realized gain of 9% total income for experienced employees, cut total income for lower experienced employees, a cut in employment for entry level employees, increased replacement of jobs by automation (speed up the inevitable anyway), and had an unforeseen trickle up effect due to increased efficiency in managing workers That was what I remember that was presented anyway. Check out the pod if you wanna hear it first hand.
