You make it sound like the government puts a gun to the head of business owners and forces them to let veterans have everything at half price. Military discounts are voluntary and generally in the 10 to 20% area. And, yes, there are business which have connections to places which allow discounts. If you won't admit you were wrong in your choice of words, at least divert the conversation elsewhere.
