Back when glass bottles were the norm, and bottlers would wash and reuse them, bottle deposit was actually cost-effective.

I'm aware of that, but it reduces litter and garbage and since the price has been built in for as long as I've been drinking I dont notice it or think about it when I buy beer.

Ergo its feels like a free case of beer, but the other benefits are what makes it a no brainer to implement.

I had no idea there were places in America that don't do this. It's pretty stupid not too tbh. The results speak for themselves.

Hell one town near here even gives addicts 10 cents for every syringe brought in.... the first week alone homeless people cleaned up over 1000 needles that were just littered in public areas.

If it works it works.
