And that means... idk, in the age of #MeToo, any 1-on-1 interaction between a male boss and female worker is fraught with peril, so your reluctance is perhaps a little understandable. You can probably get around them -- and the idea that you're treating anybody differently -- by recording the conversations, so people are less likely to try something if they get a performance review they dislike and want to get even or something.
