If we are talking just western releases, ps1 had more and better rpgs than snes did. On the super Famicom? Maybe it could challenge ps1. But I'm mostly just thinking of what America got

If you're just going by western releases I still think the SNES beats out the PS1. A lot of PS1 RPG's have aged like trash in the sun, while the SNES big boys really haven't. Something to be said for 16 bit graphics over 64. I'd much rather play FF V and VI then I would VII these days.

If you add in the SF exclusives (Which are ridiculously easy to play now because of fan translations, repros etc.) it isn't even a contest. Some of the SF exclusives make FF VI and Chrono Trigger look like small fries in comparison. Far East of Eden Zero for example.
