I thought Death Note would be a slow burn for Light going from hero to villain, kind of like Breaking Bad, but he was a full on villain by the second episode lol Well Death Note does something really clever by having Light lose his memories. During the corporation arc, Light practically gets demoted to being a secondary character that helps L faithfully in the investigation and also questions to himself whether he could really be Kira, who in the moment he views as evil.
