It is said that the true character of a person cannot be ascertained until you give that person absolute power. In this sense, Light is quite literally a tragic hero, though his actions mirror more closely that of a typical antagonist. In short, I love that godsdamned series. Light killed people for his own gain as time went on. You could argue that he was a hero in the beginning, very, very, loosely, but he wasnt anything close in the end.
