Because their promotion is kinda poor, I suppose? Theres also the conception that you cant really start a comic from issue 1. You dont know whats canon, or if it all is. There are too many crossovers, and comics outright point to others to read, like imagine Wolverine #13 saying To know more about these random heroes, read Iron Man #34. Its tedious.

It feels like you cant just break in, thats why I imagine they get less attention. This is ignoring the quality of writing or art of comics, which may also be a problem to many.

The way I spoke was mostly about superhero stuff, but as for others, we get back to the original point. Theres a lack of promotion, what would cause someone in the U.S. to find out about and read Maus? The superhero stuff being so prevalent and powerful, relatively, makes other interesting stuff less able to be found.
