Pretty sure at any point or time, an asteroid the size of kentucky could hit earth and obliterate all life on earth and no one would be aware of it's presence simply because of the very nature of how asteroids freely roam space at great speeds which makes it nearly impossible to scientists on earth to keep track of every single one of them within the visible areas of space or whatever satellites are within earth's orbit.

I hope we get hit by one of those asteroids from The Empire Strikes Back and the last thing I see is that giant worm's mouth coming at me.
