The M1 Macbooks are pretty much unrivaled when it comes to their combination of size, power, battery life, noise levels, and low temperatures. And if you need to do certain types of professional work like photo or video editing the new Macbook Pros outclass even most desktop computers. But they can't run Windows natively, only the ARM version of Windows through a virtual machine. I definitely wouldn't buy one if gaming is a major priority. And you also need to check and make sure all the programs you want to run will work on it.
