I work for the government, so there are several layers of bureaucracy between me and the actual impact of what my department does, which makes it feel less rewarding, but it's important work and I feel like I make a meaningful contribution to those that I directly work with/for, so that's fun. Are you comfortable saying what part of the government you work for? I always find it interesting hearing from people in state/federal jobs because a lot of it mirrors the work I do with the university.
