I work for the government, so there are several layers of bureaucracy between me and the actual impact of what my department does, which makes it feel less rewarding, but it's important work and I feel like I make a meaningful contribution to those that I directly work with/for, so that's fun. Damn, I'd say your work definitely makes a difference Considering recent scandals, I'd say that Canadian government has made a LOT of difference when it comes to the First Nations... and most of it very negative.
