If you had access to a T1 connection you could download MP3s, porn, console game emulations, and other warez by simply going to your average search engine or through Usenet. Corporations were not quite Internet savvy yet so copyrighted material was in plain sight or still freely available if you knew where to look. I consider the end of the line when ISPs stopped hosting free Usenet servers with access to the binaries newsgroups.
