... one thing I'm surprised few people talk about is just how much it favors the rich (and of course, white). One of the chief strategies that rich people have is the ability to gum up the legal process for so long that they essentially remain untouchable. They can hire the best lawyers and abuse legal proceedings in such a way that it becomes financially unfeasible to prosecute them.

A truly objective legal system shouldn't favor that kind of process.

It's the same reason why rich people never pay taxes, because they can afford the guys who know how to create tax havens. They have the gold and they make the rules.
